Need a range of tools to create all your personal documents ? You have certainly heard of Microsoft Office. If you think it’s a software suite for professionals only, think again. For many years, Microsoft has been offering formulas from its famous software suite especially dedicated to personal or family use. Whether you need software for writing and formatting your letters, or whether you want to produce your own invitations or design a poster and flyer template for the village festival, you can choose Microsoft Office with your eyes closed. Let’s take a look at the main solutions available to you.
Microsoft Office Home and Student
Let’s start with the simplest formula… The software suite is first available in a version marketed under the name Office Family and Student. Version 2019 is the latest release. Contrary to the majority of the Office offers which are available today only in the form of subscription, the acquisition of the license is here definitive and concerns only one workstation. This package includes the well-known word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Microsoft Office Home and Business
Microsoft also offers a version of the suite with the same content as the previously mentioned Office Home and Student, but with the addition of the popular Microsoft Outlook email client. As with the Home and Student package, you also receive 60 days of additional Microsoft support. It is marketed under the Home and Business name, again with the latest version released in 2019. As its name indicates, this license in definitive acquisition for a single workstation allows you to use these tools both for private and commercial use. It is the only version that is clearly dedicated to both individuals and professionals, whether they are self-employed or small structures.
Microsoft Office 365 Personal and Family
We are changing the type of license. The Office 365 formula is a monthly or annual subscription formula and offers the same software as those included in the Home and Business version, i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. But also included here are licenses for Publisher and Access as well as Skype and OneDrive services. The latter comes with 1TB of cloud storage space per user.
Depending on your needs and the number of licenses required, you can first choose Office 365 Personal. This version includes a single user license with access to the tools offered by Office on all your devices. However, if you need more licenses, for example for the whole family, you can choose the Office 365 Family package, which allows you to benefit from six licenses. Again, the tools will be available for each user on all their devices. The difference here is that you don’t tie your subscription to your hardware but to yourself as a Microsoft Office user. So you don’t lose your license if you change your devices.
