Photography has become part of everyday life for many of us. These shots, especially when they are further processed through software such as Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop in order to improve them or even sublimate them, we would sometimes like to be able to show them off and distribute them widely beyond our circle of friends on social networks and why not for the most successful of them to get a reward by allowing professionals and even individuals to use them for their own needs. This is where NightLapse Photo comes in…

NightLapse Photo is a new online image and video sharing platform. It allows the connection of contributors, who wish to distribute their productions more widely and make them benefit from a good presentation thanks to a large format and not preceded by a treatment by compression algorithms before display, with customers, whether they are individuals or professionals needing royalty-free images or videos and thus wishing to acquire licenses of use for their own uses. It can be professionals wishing to obtain visuals for insertions in commercials or inserts in the press for example through publications on social networks for communication purposes. The contributors thus open the possibility to reach a large public interested in their best pictures or video clips, to see their work recognized and to get a fair payment.

The principle is simple… Following a simple registration on the site by creating your contributor account and once this last one is confirmed by the validation of your e-mail address, you have immediately the possibility to upload your first image or your first video. Whether they are photographs taken with a camera and submitted directly, whether these images have been worked on via a processing software to give them a more artistic aspect or simply to correct some setting errors during the shooting or whether they are illustrations generated via Adobe Illustrator or videos entirely based on computer generated images, there is no limit to the visuals you can submit. It should be noted, however, that currently only JPG or JPEG formats for images and photographs and MP4 for videos are accepted. However, guides are available on the site to convert your images to JPEG format or to convert your videos to MP4 format in case you do not have the files in the supported formats.

Once uploaded, an editing screen is available so that you can complete the information that was not obtained from the metadata. A series of tags is also proposed thanks to an algorithm based on artificial intelligence and image recognition obtained from the API of the Images Vision website. To validate the registration of your image, all you have to do is add a title, a description, a category among those proposed, complete the missing data and add a document of authorizations, particularly for the respect of image rights if your work requires it, and finally, check the tags submitted and add some if necessary. Once you have validated your photo or video, the document appears in the corresponding section of your contributor account. For the moment, only you have access to it. You will then still have the possibility to make modifications until it is validated or rejected and then you can submit it for verification. This last step is essential because a visual not submitted will not be verified and therefore cannot be published. Once submitted, your image or video will be validated or refused within 48 to 72 hours and its status will be available in your contributor space.

The registration on the platform is free and the submission of images or videos is also free and no limit is imposed. The contributor is then remunerated each time a license of use for one of his works is sold on the platform and his level of remuneration on each of these sales is proportional to the number of images or videos published. You can consult the details of the remunerations reserved for the contributors which range from 10 to 50% of the sales amount. The follow-up of these sales is also available in real time on your contributor account. You can withdraw your earnings whenever you want or reinvest them on the platform to acquire works of other contributors.

Finally, an API for Application Programming Interface is also available for developers. If you are a web or mobile application designer and you want to be able to integrate images or video illustrations to your liking to enhance your content, without having to acquire licenses for each of them, the NightLapse Photo API is definitely for you. It offers you a wide range of subscriptions that entitle you to a defined number of monthly requests to the API, allowing you to upload a particular image or video from the platform, and whose API reference can be found on the detail page for each of them, or a defined number of these visuals associated with a chosen category or theme. This way you don’t need to store your artwork and can upload it from an external server in a fully automated way. You can consult the API documentation to learn more about its implementation. The use of the visuals is limited to displaying them via an upload from the platform’s servers and no other rights of use are granted through these subscriptions. So, if you want to store an illustration image from the site on your own servers, integrate it directly into a mobile application or use it for a publication for advertising or commercial purposes, you will have to acquire a classic license for the latter. You will also be able to choose whether or not you want the results you get to carry the NightLapse Photo watermark by choosing the corresponding API subscription.
