Autodesk is an American publisher of visual content creation software that enables a large number of professionals working in various industries including architecture, automotive, electronics or aeronautics to design 2D or 3D projects, model, animate or texture virtual objects.
Autodesk’s offer is mainly composed of three software suites in the fields of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM). They are each composed of a very large set of tools for architects, building professionals, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, electricians, manufacturers and automotive designers.
We have gathered below the list of these suites as well as the software or modules that make them up. To learn more, you will find links to our articles presenting in more detail the functionalities of the main tools included in each of these suites.
As its name suggests, the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection is a suite dedicated to the design process of projects in the building sector. It goes from architectural modeling to the elaboration of the different electrical or sanitation networks of buildings.

Autodesk provides you on its site a comparative tool of the main features of these different software to help you choose yours according to your needs. These last ones are mainly available only on the Windows operating system. It is nevertheless possible to run these softwares under macOS through a virtualization application such as Parallels Desktop for example. In addition, with Knowledge Network, Autodesk offers a set of tools powered by Autodesk, Autodesk users, and Autodesk partners to help you solve all your problems, from installing, learning, and using Autodesk products.
You can benefit from these software products on an individual basis if you do not wish to subscribe to a complete collection. However, they offer the advantage of not having to manage multiple software licenses if you need more than one of these tools. In any case, the acquisition of this license is done via a monthly, annual or triennial subscription. With this subscription, you always have access to the latest program updates and you can also purchase earlier versions if you wish.
If you are looking for computer-aided design software for your professional activity or even for your entertainment to create all kinds of extremely realistic 3D objects, infrastructures or characters in order to produce them or keep them in digital format, you will find everything you need in these software suites.
The major tools of these suites have today become references in their fields, are taught in schools and must be mastered for anyone who wants to start in 3D.
